Last Friday, the students and staff at Goose Rock Elementary hosted their first ever Color Run titled “Colors for Cancer.” While this was a fun event for the kids to kick off K-Prep testing there was a deeper meaning for coordinating this event. Several staff members at Goose Rock Elementary have battled or are battling cancer. We thought as a school and community we should show our love and support. We would like to give Paul Bowling, a spokesman from the Clay County Cancer Coalition a shout-out, he came to address our student body on Friday before the run. Paul educated our staff and students on how the Cancer Coalition serves the needs of many in our community.  All the proceeds from the Colors for Cancer Color Run (Admission and Lemonade Stand Profit) has been donated to the Clay County Cancer Coalition. The Family Resource Center Advisory Council spearheaded the idea and decided to donate the funds because the Cancer Coalition has helped so many in our county, along with our own, Mrs. Rhonda Smith. This was a fun-filled day and the majority of our students and staff participated in this event. Not only did we have a blast, it was a great bonding and team work activity for the students and staff. We hope to help those who give back to our County in the future! If you or someone you know is battling cancer, please reach out to the Clay County Cancer Coalition! Thanks to all of you for all you do!
