More Information (Directions)

Parents/Guardians/Members of the Community,

As many of you have heard, in response to the spread of COVID-19, Governor Beshear has recommended that all school systems in Kentucky be closed beginning March 16th.  Clay County Public Schools will be closed from March 16th until March 27th.  At that time, the situation, in accordance with state guidelines, will be revaluated based on recommendations from the Governor and the Kentucky Department of Education.

In order to continue the educational process during this time, students will continue to work from home utilizing their NTI packets or Infinite Campus.  First, elementary students will complete their original NTI packets that were sent home earlier in the year.  For instance, on Monday, March 16th, students will complete NTI Day 8 from the original packet.  March 17th, will be Day 9 and March 18th will be NTI Day 10.  On Thursday, March 19th, students will begin working on the new packets that will be sent home today, Friday, March 13th.  If your child is not at school today, then they will need to pick up their new NTI packets at their school by 3:30 today, Friday, March 13, 2020.    If your child attends Clay County Middle or Clay County High, then their assignments will be posted daily on Infinite Campus.  If anyone has questions about these assignments, they are free to contact their teachers or call the school for assistance.  For an electronic copy of your child’s NTI work, please contact your child’s principal.

Our cafeteria staff will be working to provide a grab and go lunch.  Beginning Monday, March 13th, lunch will be delivered to each elementary school in the district.  It will arrive there by 11:30. Students, Pre-K through 12, are encouraged to go to the nearest elementary school to pick up a lunch.  This will be a daily service, provided until further notice.  Superintendent Sexton, along with all district staff, will continue to work to provide for the needs of our students.

School nurses, provided by Grace Community Health, will not be available in their building to provide services; however, a triage hotline will be available from 8 A.M until 4 P.M. daily.  They can be reached by calling 606-596-1140.   If you have any questions or concerns for a school nurse, please take advantage of this service.  Again, during this time of uncertainty, we want to make sure that resources are available to our students and staff.

Finally, all extra-curricular activities are also cancelled during this closure.  This includes school -sponsored trips and athletic activities.

You may be receiving further updates or information by call-outs or district website/Facebook to provide more guidance during this non-traditional instruction period.

Superintendent William Sexton
