Title I, Part A – Improving Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged

Title I, Part A is one of the many federal programs in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Title I, Part A provides formula grants to districts. Districts then allocate funds to Title I schools based on the documented number of students who qualify for free/reduced lunch program. Our district was fortunate to be able to participate in the Community Eligibility Option, which allows all students in our district to eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost to the student.  HOWEVER, this does not alleviate parents from filling out the LUNCH FORMS each year.  Title I funding plus much other funding is based on the number of students who qualify for free/reduced lunch, thererfore we MUST continue to have the LUNCH FORMS completed each year.  The yearly completion of forms causes funding amounts to change from year to year based upon the results turned in to the
 

The district must use Title I funds only in schools that have been selected for services through allowable procedures. Funds are used to improve student achievement in high poverty schools. The Title I, Part A Handbook contains comprehensive information about all Title I requirements for districts and schools.
